In December 2013, kr105, also known as Carlos Pizarro, forked Litecoin and shipped Catcoin, the first cat-themed blockchain. He stepped away. The chain still ticks. In 2026 he's back with $CATCOIN, now live on Solana and Robinhood Chain. New chains, same person, and this time the cats get fed. The cat-themed coin concept is being positioned to embrace the future through the Ethereum (robinhood) blockchain via the $CatCoin token. The team is putting in significant effort to ensure people understand that the project isn’t focused on making a quick profit. A playable on-chain game has already been developed at lastcat.gg, and a strong website launch is planned soon. Crash Cat (CRASHCAT) is a community memecoin and parody character project on Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum Layer 2 (chain ID 4663). It launched in July 2026 through the Noxa Fun launchpad with a fixed supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens, no transfer taxes, no mint function, and liquidity locked in the launchpad's locker contract. The character is the "crashed out" counterpart of Cash Cat, the community mascot built on Robinhood's original naming lore: Crash Cat is the same cat one market cycle later, after following his own trading advice. The project is satire of retail trader behavior, presented as a fictional trading-terminal "incident report" — cultural and entertainment value, not a financial product.
The Meme Mascot of Robinhood Buffcat represents the final, stronger, successful version after ditching the original Cashcat name. The image shows the "transformation" story: weak Cashcat -> jacked "Buffcat" Robinhood. That's why people use the Buffcat image to celebrate or reference Robinhood itself on its posts. It's a fun ongoing joke that flips the origin story into a victory lap for the brand that actually made it. Cashcat gets the nostalgia, but Buffcat gets the glory as the end result.
